Using Purpose

Even if the GPU renders fast enough, Vsync still has lag issues, as it holds frames until the refresh cycle is over.

From there, G-sync uses a module developed by NVIDIA placed in the monitor that will be combined with the GPU. If the frame takes longer to render, the refresh cycle will be extended until the new frame is finished rendering and vice versa. To use G-sync, you must own a card from RTX 600 or higher.

Free-sync is similar to G-sync but uses an open-source industry standard module. Freesync doesn't have an Overdrive module for frame prediction as NVIDIA does. In return, Freesync is capable of handling the screen's refresh rate from 9 Hz to 240 Hz while G-sync is only in the range of 30Hz to 144Hz. And the price of the screen with Freesync is also relatively cheaper than G-sync.
